Welcome Wives, Husbands and International Families!

Spouses and families of UW international students and scholars are an important part of our community here, and we look forward to getting to know our international families.

Several of FIUTS’ programs focus on spouses and help them practice English, make new friends, share experiences and learn about other resources. In particular, the following programs below may be of special interest. All programs are free with a FIUTS family membership.

English Conversation Class: Expand vocabulary, make friends and practice speaking English. Sponsored by the University Christian fellowship, this class is non-denominational and open to all faiths. Held on Thursdays in the HUB 2nd floor lobby from 4:30-6 pm.

UW Faculty Auxiliary: The FIUTS office partners with the University of Washington Faculty Auxiliary in connecting international women and the wives of international faculty here on campus. The Faculty Auxiliary has dozens of interest groups, from hiking to gallery walk to cooking classes, all of which are available in greater detail from the FIUTS office. Contact the Auxiliary at uwfacaux@u.washington.edu.

Volunteer Opportunities: Help build international friendships and promote international goodwill. Join the FIUTS team as a volunteer at Wednesday Lunch, in the office or with spouse programs!

Please note that while spouses and children are welcome at some events, spouses and children are prohibited from riding in UW vehicles. Therefore, due to UW vehicle policies, some activities are open to UW students and scholars only.
